Update 2021-04-21 (2): In the early afternoon (local time), security forces broke up the demonstration because hygiene rules were being violated. Pepper spray and tear gas are used.

Update 2021-04-21 (1): According to further reports, police estimate that there are at least 8,000 protesters in Berlin, most of whom are not wearing face masks or adhering to distancing rules.

2021-04-21: On Wednesday (21 April), thousands of demonstrators are expected to gather in Berlin to protest against the planned changes to the Infection Protection Act. Several events and rallies have been announced, including at the Brandenburg Gate, on the Straße des 17. Juni and at Bellevue Palace.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
