Update 2022-03-01 (2): According to further reports, the death toll in south-eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales has risen to at least nine and about 40,000 people had to be evacuated. A further 300,000 have been put under evacuation warnings and moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast for the coast of New South Wales.
Update 2022-03-01 (1): According to reports on Tuesday (1 March), the situation in eastern Australia has not yet eased. Continuing rainfall is causing the situation to worsen. Flood warnings are still in force.
