Update 2022-03-23 (5): Due to flooding in the catchment area of the Irpin River near the village of Rakivka northwest of Kyiv, the Russian advance was slowed down. Update 2022-03-23 (4): Russian troops shelled several neighbourhoods of Kyiv and killed at least one person. The casualty was the result of an air strike hitting a car park of a shopping mall in the district of Podil. The Ukrainian army also pushed back Russian forces in Irpin, which was, according to Ukrainian reports, almost under full Ukrainian control. Also, Ukrainian forces allegedly encircled Russian troops at Irpin, Bucha and Hostomel. In Lyutish, heavy artillery fire was reported.
Update 2022-03-23 (3): According to Russian reports, several civilians were injured in a village in the region of Belgorod during an alleged attack by Ukrainian armed forces. In addition, a disaster situation has been declared in the villages of Zhuravlyovka and Nekhoteyevka. In the village of Zhuravlyovka, a house was damaged.

Update 2022-03-23 (1): On Wednesday night (22/23 March, local time), a Russian missile attack on military installations near the city of Rivne was reported by the Ukrainian military. Fighting was reported near Kharkiv and Isyum. Near Kiev, the suburb of Makariw was reportedly retaken by Ukrainian troops. Northwest of Kiev, Russian troops are said to have taken control of several suburbs. From the Russian side, Ukrainian shelling is reported in Luhansk oblast.
