Afghanistan, Earthquake, Level 4: Severe damage and casualties due to moderate magnitude 5.9 M earthquake at depth 10.00 km – Afghanistan [Update 2]

Update 2022-06-22(2): According to further reports on Wednesday (22 June), the epicentre of the quake was around 50 kilometres southwest of the city of Kost. According to official figures, at least 920 people were killed by falling debris or collapsing buildings in the affected regions in the east of the country. At least 600 people were injured by the quake. Due to the unclear situation, the death toll is expected to rise further.

Update 2022-06-22(1): 
According to media reports on Wednesday (22 June), at least 155 people were killed by the earthquake in Paktika province in the east of the country on the border with neighbouring Pakistan. At least 60 other people were injured. A large number of buildings were damaged or destroyed by the quake.
