Update 2022-07-28 (1): According to media reports on Thursday (28 July), intense fighting is taking place between the Ukrainian army and Russian forces near the towns of Bachmut and Soledar in eastern Ukraine. Near the locality of Vershyna, Russian units reported terrain gains. Further attacks in the Bachmut, Soledar and Slowyansk areas were repelled by the Ukrainian army. On Thursday night (28 July, local time), Ukrainian sources reported rocket fire on several targets in the country, including a military base in the locality of Lyutizh near the capital, Kyiv. On Thursday (28 July), more than 25 people were also killed by Russian missile strikes in the Kirovohrad oblast, as well as numerous others injured.
