Syria, Armed Conflict / War, Level 3: Several killed by Turkish artillery fire on Kobane – Syria [Update 1]

Update 2022-08-16: Media reported, that on Tuesday (15 August), at least eleven fighters of the Syrian regime were killed in a Turkish air strike on a military post at the city of Kobane (Ayn al-Arab) as well.

2022-08-16: According to media reports, fierce fighting between Turkish security forces and Kurdish fighters has been taking place in the Syrian border town of Kobane since early Tuesday morning (16 August, local time). Turkish artillery fire killed one civilian in the town and injured several others. Dozens of shells hit the city area since the fighting began. According to Turkish military sources, at least 13 Kurdish fighters were killed in the fighting.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Ongoing armed clashes are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise high caution, to strictly avoid operations of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
