2023-01-26: According to the sources, the union members of Metges de Catalunya will hold a strike for doctors and medical staff across Catalonia on Thursday (26 January) to press their several demands. Reportedly, nurses and doctors have also staged demonstrations in streets since Tuesday (24 January) demanding better working conditions. Demonstration was reported from Sants train station in Barcelona.
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
