2023-09-11: According to official reports from Monday (11 September), flooding has been caused by heavy rainfall in the states of Penang and Perak since Friday (8 September). Nearly 500 people were evacuated and damage has been reported. Muallim District in southern Perak has been affected in particular. More heavy rainfall is expected over the whole Malayan peninsula.
Local traffic disruptions are to be expected, floods and landslides remain possible in the coming days. Travellers should exercise heightened caution, especially near rivers/the sea and mountainslopes and follow instructions by authorities.
