Update 2023-09-18: On Monday (18 September), multiple demonstrations by the climate protest group “Last Generation” occurred throughout Berlin. Demonstrations were reported from “Großer Stern”, “Ernst-Reuter-Platz”, “Hallesche Ufer”, around “S-Bahnhof Tempelhof”, “Prenzlauer Allee” and “Kastanienallee”. Security operations are ongoing.
2023-09-17: Multiple people were detained when the Last Generation, a group of climate change activists, was protesting on Sunday (17 September) against climate policy near the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Brandenburg. The group has also announced to stage road blockades in Berlin on Monday (18 September).
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
