2023-12-05: According to the sources, a 24-hour regional strike has been scheduled for 15 December by the social organizations in Ayacucho, Huamanga Province, in protest against the Government for the death of multiple protesters in Ayacucho a year ago. In addition, there will be two more protests on Thursday (7 December) in Huamanga city from 3 pm (local time) and on Saturday (9 December) in Quinua from 8 am (local time).
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
