Update 2024-01-15 (2): Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) reportedly, launched missile attacks on Tuesday night (16 January, local time) on targets, citing retaliation for recent terrorist attacks in Iran. The international airport in the Kurdish city was also hit. Reportedly, the IRGC statement mentioned destroying the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia located in the occupied territories of Syria.
Update 2024-01-15 (1): The airstrike in the city of Kobani on Sunday (14 January) severely damaged the local energy infrastructure. The power went out in the city and hundreds of surrounding villages. Turkey had recently intensified attacks on the power supply in northern Syria. Power stations in Ayn Issa (Raqqa), Qamishli, Amuda, Tirbe Spiyeh and Al-Dirbasiyah (all in Al-Hasakah) were also affected. Power was cut in the areas surrounding these towns. A gas plant in Sweidiya was also hit.
