2024-02-16: The ver.di union has called on the employees of selected retail companies to go warning strikes on Friday (16 February) to fight for fairer and living wages in the Rhineland-Palatinate State. Employees from IKEA in Koblenz and Kaiserslautern, H&M in Mainz and Kaiserslautern, Hornbach in Kaiserslautern, and Kaufland in Mainz will participate in the strike.
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
