India, Flood, Level 3: Flooding led to disruptions in parts of Assam – India

2024-07-07: Multiple people died on Sunday (7 July) following floods in Assam. Reportedly, the fatalities occurred across various districts including Cachar, Dhubri, Goalpara, Nalbari, Dhemaji, and Sivasagar. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported dozens of districts were affected across the state, with significant damage to roads, bridges, and river embankments. Multiple rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are flowing above danger levels.
Local traffic disruptions are to be expected, floods and landslides remain possible in the coming days. Travellers should exercise heightened caution, especially near rivers/the sea and mountainslopes and follow instructions by authorities.
