Update 2024-07-16 (4): According to the sources, on Tuesday (16 July), chaos erupted on Garage Road in Homa Bay town when two groups clashed over anti-government protests, resulting in a saloon car being pelted with stones and pushed into a ditch. Another person was injured by security officials following gunfire in Nakuru City during Generation Z protests. In Kibwezi, Makueni County, several people were killed, and several others sustained bullet injuries as security officials quelled demonstrations. However, several people were killed by security officials responding to protests in Kitengela, Kajiado County and Moi Avenue in the Nairobi district.

Update 2024-07-16 (3): According to reports, at least one person was killed during anti-government protests in Kitengela on Tuesday (16 July). Security forces allegedly used tear gas and water cannons against protesters in Kitengela before firing live shots, killing at least one person. Protesters had been burning tires and throwing rocks. Protests have been reported in 23 out of 47 counties thus far on Tuesday (16 July). Security forces in Nairobi also fired tear gas at protesters, and protesters in Mombasa lit fires in protest. Clashes between a group of youths and a group that called themselves the “Kakamega Business Community” were also reported in Kakamega on Tuesday morning (16 July, local time). The group of youths eventually disarmed the other group. Protests and fires have also been reported in Karatina. A number of people were injured during the protests on Tuesday (16 July) as well.

Update 2024-07-16 (2): According to media reports, further demonstrations are expected in Nairobi on Tuesday (16 July). Some roads in the Central Business District (CBD) have been closed. The police have set up roadblocks to important institutions such as State House, Parliament and the Supreme Court.
