Update 2024-08-06 (1): According to the latest media reports from Tuesday (6 August), the junta troops have withdrawn from the last contested positions along the Chinese border in Shan State. There had been fierce fighting between the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and the regular military since June, but contact between the junta military leadership and high-ranking officers in the disputed areas was broken off a few days ago.
