Update 2024-08-13 (3): According to reports, Ukrainian authorities stated on Tuesday (13 August) that the military had seized control of 74 settlements in Kursk. This has not yet been independently verified and is an increased from the 28 confirmed by Kursk authorities on Monday (12 August). Ukrainian authorities also stated on Tuesday (13 August) that they had taken control of 40 square kilometres of territory in Kursk. This has also not yet been verified.
Update 2024-08-13 (2): According to the latest media reports from Tuesday (13 August), the administration of the Bolshesoldatsky (Kursk) district is planning to evacuate the last people. Many of the 11,000 people living there have so far travelled to other parts of the country of their own accord. The Ukrainian advance in the Russian border region is now said to cover up to 800 square kilometres.
Update 2024-08-13 (1): According to Russian state media, the Ukrainian armed forces have fired at least 30 shells at the Belgorod region in the past 24 hours. According to media reports from Tuesday (13 August), eleven drones were also launched. One person is said to have been injured. Meanwhile, there are few reliable reports on the current situation in the neighbouring Kursk region, where Ukrainian troops had advanced several kilometres into Russian territory.
