Update 2024-09-02 (2): According to further reports, two people were injured in the Russian shelling of the village of Nikopol (Dnipro) after their home was damaged.
In Kupiansk (Kharkiv), one person was killed when artillery shells destroyed a residential building.

Update 2024-09-02 (1): Overnight Monday (1/2 September, local time), the Russian armed forces once again attacked targets in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions as well as in the capital Kiev. Various types of projectiles were used, including ballistic missiles. According to media reports, the Ukrainian air defence is said to have repelled nine ballistic missiles, 13 long-range missiles and 20 drones. However, at least two people were injured by the shelling in Kiev, and 18 in Sumy. Multiple fires were reported from Kiev as a result of the night-time bombardment, with the Shevchenkivsky, Holosiivsky and Solomyanskyi districts particularly affected. A metro station was affected as well. The metro, however, remains operational. Meanwhile, Russian President Putin announced that the Russian advance in eastern Ukraine could not be stopped by the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region.
