Taiwan, Severe Weather, Level 5: Disruptions due to Typhoon Krathon in wide parts of the country – Taiwan [Update 8]

Update 2024-10-03 (2): Several people died, while over one hundred were injured as of Thursday (3 October), as Typhoon Krathon battered the island. The typhoon caused significant disruptions, including the suspension of all domestic flights and temporary power outages for thousands of homes. While the typhoon was forecast to weaken rapidly after making landfall, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) warned residents of Kaohsiung of destructive winds, urging them to take shelter immediately.

Update 2024-10-03 (1): Typhoon Krathon made landfall on Thursday (3 October) at around 12:40 pm (local time) as a category 1 typhoon near Kaohsiung City in Siaogang District. Hundreds of flights were grounded across the island.
