2024-10-24: There have been several bomb attacks in southern Thailand ahead of the 20th anniversary of the deadly clashes in 2004: According to media reports, an explosive device detonated on the road between the villages of Ban Kujing Luepah and Ban Bango Luhboh (Tambon Chalerm) in Narathiwat on Wednesday evening (23 October, local time). Three members of the security forces were injured. A second explosion occurred shortly after midnight (Thursday, 24 October, local time) in the village of Ban Na Prao (Tambon Panare) in Pattani. Around ten attackers raided the headquarters of the Tambon Ban Nam Administrative Organisation in Panare district shortly afterwards, briefly taking hostages and stealing a vehicle.
