As a result of the bombing, a fire broke out on the factory premises. Seven civilians were killed and six others injured in fighting in the Donetsk region on Tuesday (local time). Russian shelling killed eight people and injured 12 others in the village of Desna in the Chernihiv region in the north of the country, also on Tuesday (local time). Official sources also reported at least 10 casualties from Russian shelling in Severdnezk on Tuesday (local time). Russian forces also carried out air strikes against the port city of Odessa and the strategically important city of Mykolaiv, causing casualties. According to Russian sources, hundreds of Ukrainian fighters still entrenched in the Azov Steel plant in Mariupol surrendered on Tuesday (local time).
Update 2022-05-17 (1): According to Ukrainian sources, the area around Lviv was again the target of an air strike on Monday (16 May). The attack was aimed at a military facility in the district of Yavoriv on the border with Poland. In Mariupol, hundreds of soldiers have left the Azov steelworks. They are now to be taken to territory occupied by Russian troops and return later in a prisoner exchange.
