2024-01-05: An artillery shelling was reported by Seoul Defence Ministry on Friday (5 December) at around 9 am (local time) to 11 am (local time) in the northern part of Baengnyeongdo Island and the northern areas of Yeonpyeong Island, Incheon. Reportedly, hundreds of artillery shells were fired by North Korea. Furthermore, an evacuation order has been issued in the Baengnyeongdo Island and Yeonpyeong Island.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Ongoing armed clashes are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise high caution, to strictly avoid operations of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
