Update 2024-01-11: Violent protests along with robberies and arson attacks and various crimes were reported on Wednesday (10 January) in the capital Port Moresby amid ongoing demonstrations involving security services. Reportedly, multiple people died while many others were injured following the unrest. As per reports, a hospital had to evacuate patients due to the spreading fires originating from nearby shops. Authorities are working to regain control and restore order in the capital Port Moresby. Moreover, there were also reports that the airport was closed with all international flights cancelled until further notice.
