Update 2024-03-10 (1): A rescue operation was initiated on Sunday (10 March) after several people went missing following severe storms triggered by the low-pressure system “Monica” that hit the southern part of the country. In Dions commune of Gard Department, several people went missing on Saturday evening (9 March, local time) while attempting to cross the Gardon river bridge. Additionally, several people in the communes of Goudargues and Gagnieres of Gard Department, went missing after their vehicles were swept away by floodwaters. Moreover, a severe weather warning remains in effect for multiple regions, and many households in Nice city, Alpes-Maritimes Department experienced temporary power outages due to the severe weather.
