2024-05-28: Te Pāti Māori political party has scheduled a strike on Thursday (30 May) in Auckland. Reportedly, protesters will gather near motorway motorway on-ramps, north, south and west of the city at 6:30 am (local time). Traffic is expected to be gridlocked.
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
