2024-06-06: According to sources, at least one person was injured when the security officials attacked hundreds of workers blocking the Avenida General Paz highway on Wednesday (5 June) to protest thousands of layoffs and the dismantling of the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI). Employees and members of the State Workers Association (ATE) disrupted traffic in three lanes. Security officials used tear gas and batons against the protesters, while several citizens threw stones and set tyres on fire.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
