2024-12-16: Clashes were reported on Monday (16 December) during a protest march organized by the Kerala Students Union (KSU) state committee in Kannur, Kerala. The march began from the stadium corner of the city at around 12:30 pm (local time) and was blocked afterwards by security forces, leading to a confrontation. Reportedly, security forces used water cannons to disperse the protesters.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
