2025-01-27: Major traffic disruptions were reported on Tuesday overnight (28 January, local time) nationwide due to heavy snowfall. Reportedly, the Honam Expressway between Gyeryong and Seodaejeon in Wanju County was completely blocked due to severe snowfall. In addition, at least one person was reported injured in an accident following a tanker truck overturned on the Dongjin-Daejeon Expressway near Gongju City, South Chungcheong Province. Meanwhile, another accident was reported involving passenger vehicles on the first lane near Hoengseong Rest Area heading towards Incheon on the Yeongdong Line, while one more accident involving a single vehicle was reported on the second lane. Furthermore, dozens of people were injured on Monday (27 January) after multiple buses slipped on the snowy road in the Hwanseong-ri area of Jigok-myeon in Seosan City, South Chungcheong Province. Authorities have issued alerts in response to the ongoing situation.
Travellers are advised to inform themselves via local media and authorities about the current situation on site, to follow instructions from authorities, to exercise high caution near mountainsides and rivers, as well as to avoid damaged buildings, bridges, and roads.
