2025-02-20: Several security officials were injured, and at least one protester was injured on Wednesday (19 February) during the weekly protests by retirees, health unions, and left-wing groups on Rivadavia Avenue near the Congress building in Buenos Aires. Reportedly, when the security forces enforced the anti-picket protocol to prevent a blockade of Rivadavia Avenue, clashes broke out. Protesters later blocked traffic at Rivadavia and Combate de los Pozos. A journalist team was also attacked during the protest.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
