Update 2021-02-18 (2): On Thursday (18 February), clashes again broke out between security forces and demonstrators in several cities and peaceful protests were held in many more. Water cannons were used in Naypyidaw and catapults were used against demonstrators in Myitkyina.
According to further reports on the clashes in Mandalay the previous night, catapults were also used there as well as rubber bullets.
Update 2021-02-18 (1): According to media reports on Thursday (18 February), tear gas was used and warning shots were fired at a demonstration near Mandalay city on Wednesday (17 February). The demonstrators had blocked railway tracks near a workers’ settlement where mainly railway workers live.
